About Directra Videos
Use Directra to upload, watch, download, and share Internet videos with your Group.
Watching Videos
On the Features tab click Videos, opening the Videos page. On the left is the list of videos that have been uploaded for the Group. Click on the video title and that video will appear in the video player.
Click on the video image to pause and resume the video. Adjust the sound or seek to a location using the control bar below the video.
NOTE: Adobe Flash Player (free) is required to watch Directra videos. Directra detects if you don't have Flash installed or your version is out of date and provides you with download links.
Video Formats (Encoding)
Directra can stream video in these formats:
H.264 - the new standard for Internet videos. H.264 provides excellent compression and video quality. H.264 files can have file extensions of either .MOV (Quicktime) or .MP4 (Standard).
Flash Video - the legacy format for Adobe Flash. Flash Video files have an extension of .FLV.
For either format, Directra requires you to encode your own videos before you upload. This enables you to create the highest quality video possible. See these topics on video encoding:
Uploading Videos
- Click on the
Upload Videos action. - Click the Select & Upload button to specify the video file(s) you wish to upload.
- Directra will display a progress indicator so you can monitor the upload of each file.
The size limit of a video file is 300MB.
IMPORTANT: Before you upload a video make sure that you own the video or have permission to upload it. Also make sure that the video contains no material that is inappropriate or offensive.
Downloading Videos
Click on the
Download Video action to save a copy of the video to your local computer.
TIP: If the video was encoded with H.264, you can watch it in slow motion or frame-by-frame with Quicktime, Apple's video player (free) for both Windows and Mac. Quicktime is ideal for analyzing action videos for team sports.
