Video Formats (Encoding)
Directra can stream video in these formats:
H.264 - the new standard for Internet videos. H.264 provides excellent compression and video quality. H.264 files can have file extensions of either .MOV (Quicktime) or .MP4 (Standard).
Flash Video - the legacy format for Adobe Flash. Flash Video files have an extension of .FLV.
For either format, Directra requires you to encode your own videos before you upload. This enables you to create the highest quality video possible. See these topics on video encoding:
- Click on the Upload Videos action.
- Click the Select & Upload button to specify the video file(s) you wish to upload.
- Directra will display a progress indicator so you can monitor the upload of each file.
The size limit of a video file is 300MB.
IMPORTANT: Before you upload a video make sure that you own the video or have permission to upload it. Also make sure that the video contains no material that is inappropriate or offensive.
Click on the Download Video action to save a copy of the video to your local computer.
TIP: If the video was encoded with H.264, you can watch it in slow motion or frame-by-frame with Quicktime, Apple's video player (free) for both Windows and Mac. Quicktime is ideal for analyzing action videos for team sports.
