Directra Build #489
Released on May 08, 2009
Text Messaging
You can now send an SMS text message blast to members of your Group.
Text messaging in Directra requires the following setup:
- Group members update their iPanels to specify their mobile phone number and enable their phone for text messaging.
- The Group admin creates tagged member lists containing Group members who have enabled text blasting.
Sending a text message blast is easy. From Directra, select Send a Text Blast on the Communicate tab or from the Send a Blast home page gadget. Fill in the pop-up form and click Send the Blast.
Text messages are limited to 160 characters, including the From: text. If you use more than 160 characters, Directra will send multiple messages to each recipient. You should be aware that a recipient's mobile phone service provider may charge a fee for each message received.
See Sending a Text Blast for details.
This initial version of text messaging does not support replies or messages sent from your phone. Those features are just around the corner, but presently you must use the feature as described above to send text messages.
Photo Slideshow
You can now view all uploaded photos in a slideshow. From the Media tab select View Photo Slideshow. Click the picture to pause the slideshow, scoll you mouse over the picture to see the slideshow control which allows you to manually scroll through the slideshow and to display the photos full-screen.
More Pop-Up Windows
The following are now pop-up forms, enabling you to perform the operation "in place":
- Make a Call Blast
- Send a Text Blast
- Send an Email Blast
- Email a Page Link
Protecting Your Phone Number From Caller-ID Display
When using click-to-call or directory dial to communicate with another member of your Group, any person who has caller ID enabled on their phone will see who the call is from. If the number you're calling from is protected or unlisted then Directra will not display your phone number, using a general Directra number instead. See What CallerID is Used When I Make a Call? for the truly very gory details.
