Directra Build #334
Released on November 04, 2008
IMPORTANT - If you have upgraded to version 10 of Adobe Flash then you will not be able to upload more than one photo or video at a time. This is a temporary loss of functionality that we will fix soon in an upcoming build. Until then you have two choices:
- If the Select & Upload button does not respond when clicked, use the Single File Upload button.
- Uninstall Flash 10 and install Flash 9, Adobe does not offer a Flash 9 installer, but fortunately there are web sites that maintain archives of old installers. Here is one: We've tested this installer on several computers, but we cannot guarantee it will work correctly on your computer. Be sure to close all your applications and backup any important data before installing this or any software.
New Features
- You can now delete delete or cancel specific instances of a recurring entry on your calendar. For example, say you entered a weekly practice, repeating every Wednesday afternoon for three months. However you know there will be no practice on the day before Thanksgiving. You can now remove that one practice from your calendar (delete) without affecting the other practices, or keep the practice in your calendar but with a line drawn through the name of the practice (cancel).
There are several ways to do this:
- If you have already created a recurring series, from the calendar or the schedule hover your cursor over the entry you want to remove. You'll see a pop-up menu. Select Cancel or Delete, then follow the prompts in the dialog that appears.
- If when you hover you select the option Event Page or Practice Page, you can use the Cancel or Delete action to remove this event. At this time, if click the edit icon (
) you will see a dialog warning you that you will be changing all entries in the series. For individual items in a series Directra currently allows only Cancel or Delete. At a later time you will be able to edit (e.g. change the time or location for) an individual item in a recurring series. - When you are creating a recurring series in your calendar, note that there is now an entry where you can specify Delete Dates, dates which will not appear as part of the recurring series. Enter the date (or dates) for which the item will not appear in your calendar, using the format mm/dd/yyyy. Separate multiple dates using commas.
- In a similar manner you can use Cancel Dates to specify dates which will appear on your calendar but will be canceled, i.e. the title of the calendar entry will have a line running through it.
- Games cannot be added as recurring items, since each game is different. However you can now cancel a game on your calendar or schedule. Simply hover over the item and select Cancel Game.
- As mentioned above, we've added a hover menu for calendar/schedule items. Scroll over an item in your calendar and you can open the item for editing or cancel or delete the item directly from the hover menu.
- You can enter something in your calendar without specifying a time. Actually, you could do this in previous versions, but if you did not enter a time then Directra used 12:00AM for the time. Now you can make it clear to team members that the time is unspecified. This can be very useful if, for example, your team is in a tournament but you won't know actual game times until the tournament schedule is published. No one will think the game actually starts at 12:00 AM!
- We have changed the way you can mark various events and features to be public or private. Previously the public/private choice was made at the feature level. For example, previously the Group admin could decide if photos (all photos) would be visible on the public home page. Now this feature will always be visible (if it has been enabled by the admin) but individual photos can be specified as public or private.
- You can send a link (URL) to a Directra video or photo. Select the item, right click and select Copy Link Location (Firefox) or Copy Shortcut (IE). You can then paste this link into an email message. When the recipient of the email clicks on this link they'll be taken to the specific photo or video. To select a photo right click the photo in the Photos tab. To select a video, right-click the name of the video in the Video List.
Improvements / Fixes / Changes Made
- In the Schedule view we've combined the start and end times for an entry into a single column.
- We improved the display of Forum topics and Announcements. For both features, if you use HTML it will be displayed correctly on the home page gadget. Also, you can now provide a title for each announcement.
Note - If you used HTML tags for Announcements or Forum topics you will need to edit these items and change the text type from Plain Text to HTML.
