Directra Build #273
Released on August 13, 2008
New Features
We added a number of enhancements to our recent support for families in Directra.
Please review the Build 262 Release Notes for a detailed description of Directra's support for families. As a reminder, here are some reasons why this is such a valuable feature:
- Directra allows you to do things as a family or as an individual.
- Family members can edit each other's contact information. The first user who logs in can edit everyone's contact information.
- Parents can edit contact information for their children, making sure your children are protected to your satisfaction.
- Individual family members can have their own contact information.
- Family information is now included in the iPanel for each member of the family. For example, if you open up a child's iPanel you will see contact information for that child, and also for the mother, father and any other family member who is a member of the Group. This allows you to view and to edit the contact information for any family member from any other family member's iPanel.
- On a member's iPanel you'll find a Family box which contains a link to the iPanel of each family member. Click Edit on this box to edit family information. And ...
- When you click Edit on the Family box you'll see that Edit Family is now an in-place form on the member's iPanel.
- On the Members page, clicking the name of a member takes you to that member's iPanel. In the previous release, highlighting the first name took you to the iPanel, but highlighting the last name took you to the panel for that member's family. Since we added the Family box to a member's iPanel and display all family contact information in each family member's iPanel there is no longer a need to link to the family panel. You can, however, click View Families from the Actions box on the Members page to see a list of all families. From there you can click on a family name to view the details for an individual family.
- We changed the options available on the flyout menu that appears when you hover over a member's name. We removed the options to view/edit the member's family (for the reason stated above) and added the options to email or phone the member. Also, the hover menu was only working for administrators. Now it works for all members.
Improvements / Fixes / Changes Made
- We streamlined the text used when inviting members. We also removed the Beta non-disclosure agreement, so that new members will no longer see this screen when accepting an invitation to join an Group.
- Most links are now HTTP rather than HTTPS (secure, used for passwords). This should improve the speed of Directra. If you're using Internet Explorer version 6 you may see a message when you first log on. Press Yes to ignore this message.
- We put Invite All Members back on the Invite Members panel (which itself is available on the Members page). Somehow it got "misplaced" in the previous release.
- If you tried to save a photo as an image directly from your browser, the suggested filename was not correct.
- We removed birthdays as something that is tracked on the schedule. This is a short-term fix that greatly increases the performance of Groups with a large number of members.
- Automatic refresh of some of Directra's screens was not performing correctly. This means that in some cases when you made a change you did not see the change until you manually refreshed your screen.
- Selecting the photo option No Dates caused an error.
- We removed the word "iPanel" from a member's iPanel. Now you'll see only the member's name at the top of the iPanel.
- On the Admin tab, clicking the View Group Changes option caused an error.
- The Edit Members function was not saving the family role.
- When you created a forum topic, the creation time of the topic was not recorded correctly.
