Podcasts
A podcast is a way to transfer videos, photos and other files from your Group's web site to a podcast reader like iTunes or Google Reader. Depending on your reader you may then be able to download to and view the podcast on an iPod or other mobile device.
Subscribing to your Group's Podcast
Subscribing is the process of telling iTunes or other program that uses podcasts how to find your Group's podcast. On the Media tab select Subscribe to Podcast. The box that pops up gives you two choices:
- Copy the URL (it's pretty long, since it uniquely identifies you and your Group), then open iTunes or your preferred application for receiving podcasts and paste the URL as specified by the application. Once subscribed, videos, photos and other files will be uploaded to the applcation. From there you can move them to your iPod or other mobile device.
- Click the link prefaced by For most browsers... and your default web browser will open. Follow the instructions from your browser to subscribe to this Podcast. Your podcast becomes a bookmark in your browser.
Subscribing to Common Podcast Readers
Here's how to use method #1, above, for some specific browsers and applications.
iTunes: Use the Advanced menu, select Subscribe to Podcast, then paste the URL in the box that is displayed.
Google Reader: Click the Add a subscription button, then paste the URL in the box that is displayed.
