Notifications

Overview

You may be a member of a group that is very active, with other members adding and editing content all the time, making it hard to know what's new. Or you may be a member of a group that seldom changes, but you'd like to know when there is a change without looking at the Group every day. For either case, Directra's notification feature gets you the information you want when you want it.

Enabling Notifications

Two things need to happen for you to receive notifications:

  1. The Group admin turns on notificiations for the Group. From the Settings tab select Group Settings. Click Members, then edit the Notifications section and check all notification types that will be available to Group members.
  2. You specify the information you want to receive. On your Member Page, edit the Notifications section, check the box Enable Notifications, then select the types of actions for which you will be notified.

If you're not sure what items to select, see Notification Types for more detail.

Getting Notifications

You can receive notifications in three different ways.

  1. Get a daily email digest containing a summary of changes made to your Group for the previous day. If no changes are made you won't get this email. Enabling notifications, as described above, means the digest will be sent to you automatically. There's nothing else you need to do. The digest is sent to all your blastable email addresses, and is sent at approximately 4AM Eastern time.
  2. Follow an RSS feed using your browser or other RSS reader. This allows your to see changes as they're made during the day. Use Get URL for RSS Feed on the Group tab and follow the directions on the pop-up panel.  Learn more ...
