Copying or Moving Members to a Another Group

If you're creating a new Group and some of the members of the new Group are already members of other Groups for which you are an admin, you can add these members quickly by copying or moving them from an existing Group to the new Group.

Example

You might be the admin for a team which is starting a new season and many of the players from last season's team will be part of the team this season. It's much faster to copy their information than create it from scratch.

What's the difference between copying and moving?

  • Copy: Adds a member to the new Group and retains their member record in the existing Group. In most cases you will use this option so that you don't lose any data from the existing Group.
  • Move: Adds a member to the new Group and removestheir member record from the existing Group. This can be handy when you add a member to the wrong Group and want to add the record where it belongs.

This feature is simple to use. Here are some details.

  1. Use the Copy/Move Members command on the Members tab.
  2. You'll see the options to copy/move to or copy/move from an Group. This means you can use this feature when logged into the new Group or the existing Group.
  3. Personal information, contact information, profile and notifications are copied or moved. Comments on the Wall are not carried across.
