Picture

Your member page picture is your personal ID photograph in Directra. Anyone who visits your page or opens the Faces view on the Members tab will see it. Moreover, in many places where your name is used to identify you, a small version of your photograph will appear. For example, if you start or respond to a Discussion your name and photograph appear. So ... you're going to want this picture to be something that represents who you are to the group.

Adding or Changing a Picture

Click the photo (or the empty-photo box). This opens the Picture form. Follow these steps:
  1. Enter the filename for the picture you want to use. Use the Browse button to find the picture if you're not sure of it's name or location.
  2. Click the Upload the Picture button. The picture will appear on the page.
  3. Crop the picture as necessary. Move and stretch the cropping tool to select the region of the picture you want to keep. Note that the tool "enforces" a 3:4 aspect ratio, assuring that your picture will appear correctly in Directra. Inside the cropping tool you'll see the normal coloring of the picture. This will be your Directra picture. Outside the cropping tool the picture will be dimmed. When you save the picture the dim portion will be removed from display. (It will not be deleted, however. When you re-edit the picture you'll have the entire uploaded picture to work with again.)
  4. Click Save near the top of the page. Your picture will be updated.

Tips for Getting a Good Picture

  1. Use a picture that is of medium or high resolution. Your picture should be at least 150 pixels wide.
  2. Focus primarily on your face. This will allow you to remain recognizable in the instances where Directra displays a small version of your picture.
