Families in Directra
Many organizations involve more than one member of a family. For example, on a youth sports team the coach or team manager often wants to know not just the contact information for the player but also for the player's parents. Directra makes it easy to establish and maintain family relations among members of a Group. In particular:
- When you view a member's Member Page all family members are displayed on that panel. At a glance you can see who is in the family and with a single click you can move to the page of a family member.
- Family members can edit the contact information for other family members. In fact, in compliance with COPPA, contact information for children under the age of 13 can only be entered and edited by the Group admin or a family member 13 years or older.
- You can assign family roles (parent, mother, father, child) to each member of the family.
Configuring Directra to Allow Family Relationships
Use these configuration settings available in the Setup section of the Settings tab.
- (Required) For all groups, in the Group section, check the box Allow Family Relationships. As new members are added to the group, Directra will use auto-assign to add members with the same last name to the same family.
- (Optional) For sports teams, in the Template section, check the box Show Parent's Names on the Roster. This is a good idea for youth sports teams in particular, since for each player entry in the roster you can quickly see the names of the player's parents.
Creating a Family
Directra will create families automatically when you add members to your Group. If the new member's last name is the same as any other member Directra will auto-assign those members to the same family. If for any reason the auto-assignment is not correct, open the page for the member, edit the family box under the member's picture and set the family assignment to another family or to No Family.

Viewing Families
- From any member's page the Family box underneath the page photo displays that member's family.
- From the Members tab select the Families view. You'll see all families listed in a tabular format, with each family and it's members listed in a single row. Click the family name to see a list with details of all members of that family.
