Events

The Event form provides an easy way to create and edit individual events. You create an event using the Add button on the Calendar tab. To edit an existing event, in the monthly calendar or calendar list hover over the name of the event and select Edit Event.

The New / Edit Event Form

  • Title: Enter here something that describes the event. For example, this might be a Parent's Meeting, or a Team Party
  • Date: You can enter the date manually, using mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy formats. or by clicking the calendar icon, then selecting the desired date.
  • Time: You must enter a start time, but an end time is optional. Time formatting is flexible. For example, for 5 o'clock in the afternoon you may enter 5:00 PM, 5 PM or 5pm.
  • Repeats ... Until: If this is a recurring event, specify the interval (e.g. daily, weekly) and the end date (required). When you select the interval you'll see that the Skip these dates option appears. If you know of particular dates when you the event will not take place, you can enter them here (mm/dd/yyyy) and the event will not appear on your team's calendar.
  • Location: You can enter a location here or select a known team location from the drop-down list. You define team locations using the using the Locations section on the Group Settings Page. If you gave your locations labels, then all you need here is the label. Anyone viewing the event entry can click and get a Google map of the location.
  • Access: As with all Directra objects, specify if the details of this event can be seen by anyone coming to your web site or only by members who have logged in.
  • When your edit the event you get the additional option, Cancel this event. Check the box and you have the option of canceling all events, or only those whose date you specify. Canceled events appear in the monthly calendar or calendar list with their text struck through.
  • Notes: Enter additional information here. For example, for a party you might want to indicate if people need to bring something. You can enter this as plain text, or if you want more flexibility, use HTML.
