Text Chats
Use your Directra site or your smartphone to initiate a multi-way text chat. Easily turn it into a mult-way voice conference, with Directra calling all participants and handling all the details. Some obvious questions are answered below but, frankly, just try it. You'll see how it works.
How do I start a text chat?
- From your smartphone: Log in to our mobile app, www.directra.com/mobile. Select your group, then click Text Chat.
- From your Directra site: Click Text Chat on your home page Comms gadget or from any page in the Comms tab.
Select the participants, then click Start.
How do I know what to do?
Well, all there is to do, really, is to start texting. All participants see all messages. Directra helps you get started. If you initiate the conference Directra sends you a message with instructions. If you're a participant you'll get a message asking you to reply with "OK" to join the conference.
So, just what are these instructions?
Participants can issue simple one-word commands:
- End, to close the conference (moderator only)
- Off, to leave the conference (participant only)
- Who, to see who's particpating
- Talk, to turn the text chat into a voice conference; the text chat stays alive while you're all on the phone with each other.
- Ask, to ask a Yes/No question. Directra will tally the replies.
- Add, to add a member or a tagged subgroup
See Text Chat Commands for more details and for a list of commands available to partipants.
How do I terminate the conference?
A voice conference ends when everyone hangs up. To terminate the text part of the conference, send the END command.
