Opting Out

You may not want to be on the receiving end of email, phone or text communication (individual contact or a blast) from Directra. Here's how to opt out of such communication.

All Message Types - Update Your Member Page

Your Member Page is where you define your contact information, so this is the logical place to start to opt out of receiving various types of messages. For any email address or phone number you have listed in your Member Page, you can do the following:

  1. Delete the information.
  2. Uncheck the box in the Allow Blasting? column. Note that for phone numbers that can receive both call and text blasts, you can choose to opt out of both, or only one type of blast. For example, for a text-enabled phone you might opt in for text blasts but opt out for call blasts.

Email Blasts

When you receive an email blast you'll see opt-out instructions and a web link at the bottom of the message. Click this link to open a web page which displays your name, Group and email address. To opt-out, uncheck the box Enable email blasts to this address. Your Member Page will be updated and you will no longer receive email blasts to the specified email address from anyone in the Group.

Call Blasts

There are two ways to opt out of receiving call blasts:

  1. While listening to a blast

Press 2. You'll hear a menu in which you can choose to:

    • Repeat the message
    • Stop receiving blasts
    • Send a voicemail to Directra support

When you choose to stop receiving blasts, Directra unchecks the Allow Blasting? checkbox for this number in your Member Page. If this number appears on other members' Member Pages, it does not change those. After you have stopped blasts, the voice menu changes to have a Resume receiving blasts command. This is so you can undo the stop-blast request.

  2. By calling the Directra support number (877-393-0059)

The Directra Support Line, 877-393-0059, allows you to opt out of call blasts, and to send voicemail to Directra support. You'll hear a main menu where you can either start an opt-out operation, or send a voicemail to support. If you choose to opt out, the system repeats your phone number and asks if that's the number you want to opt out. You can choose that number, or enter a different number. For example, you may want to opt out your mobile phone while calling from your home phone.

Once you choose the number to opt out, Directra determines which Groups the number appears in. If the number appears in a single Group, Directra opts the number out of that group only. If the number appears in multiple Groups, Directra asks you which group you want to opt out of. You can choose a single group or opt out of all groups.

Directra doesn't know which member is calling the support number, which means opting out will turn off blasting for all appearances of the phone number in all selected groups, even if the number appears on multiple members' Member Pages.

Text Messages

If Directra determines that your phone is capable of receiving text messages, it will display the option Block all text messages to this number on your Member Page. If you do not want to receive text messages on this number, check the box for this option. If you change your mind later, you can uncheck the option. You can also use the Text checkbox to disable text blasting to this number, but still allow individual members to send you text messages. All these settings are on your Member Page.

You can also block text messages to a particular phone number by sending the message STOP from the phone to the Directra short code, 45997. Note, however, that stopping text messages using the STOP command from the phone blocks all text messages for all Groups. The only way to re-enable text messaging after sending a STOP command is to send a START command from the phone. Re-enabling text messages on your Member Page will have no effect until you also send a START command from the phone.
