Group Properties

Use the Group Properties section to define the long name, short name and description of your Group.

  • Long Name: The name that is displayed at the top of your Group web pages.
  • Short Name: A shorter name for your Group that is used as your Group identifier in call blasts and text blasts, and is used as the name of your Group calendar when you export it.
    Tips

When you send a call blast each recipient will hear an introduction from Directra which includes the short name of your Group. So you should specify a name that can be clearly spoken by Directra's text-to-speech facility. Don't use abbreviations or acronyms unless you separate the individual characters with spaces, e.g. use G H S, not GHS.

Use a name that is easily identifiable from the long name. This will make it easy for recipients to identify the Group when they hear the short name spoken.  Learn more ...

  • Sharing: Check this box to turn a personal Group into a shared Group.
  • Description: An optional description that is displayed below the Long Name on each web page.
    Example

For an example Group, you might enter this:

    Long Name:Glendale High School
    Short Name:Glendale High or G H S 2000
    Description:Dynamiters - Class of 2000

Then, the top of each web page will display this:

    Glendale High School

    Dynamiters - Class of 2000

  • Time Zone: From the drop-down list select your time zone. This assures that date and time information is adjusted to display in your local time. Wherever Directra displays a time it does so using this time zone setting. This is of particular importance when scheduling a call blast.
  • Families: (Shared Groups only) If the box Allow Family Relationships is checked, then whenever you add a new member to the Group, this member will be placed in the same family with all other members who have the same last name. Learn more about Families...
  • Include this group in the Directra Group listing: (Shared Groups only) At the bottom of each page is a link to a list of all Directra's active Groups. Being in this list allows search engines like Google to index your Group, so that others can search for you Group by name. If you uncheck this box your Group will not be displayed in the list and will not be indexed by search engines.
